The city’s seasonal classes are the fixed-session pick
If you want a parent-friendly price with a known end date, start with the City of Oviedo group lessons. The city’s published price structure is straightforward: spring and fall sessions are $95 for residents or $125 for nonresidents for six classes, with five guaranteed. Summer runs $120 for residents or $165 for nonresidents for eight classes, with six guaranteed. Those are per course, not per month.
The last posted cohort separated Star Tots for 18–35-month-olds from children 3–12, teens 13–17, and adults 18 and over. On day one, staff evaluate swimmers and divide them by skill before age, so your child’s age group is a starting point rather than the entire placement. The last fall session was held at Riverside Pool, 1600 Lockwood Blvd, and the year’s first registration had to be done in person at Riverside Park or the Oviedo Gym and Aquatic Facility at 148 Oviedo Blvd. Confirm the next venue when you call.
City resident rates mean you live inside the corporate city limits, not simply that you have an Oviedo mailing address. The city’s address guidance can settle that before you assume the lower price. I’d also keep recreation and residency basics handy if this is your first time sorting out Oviedo services.
The weather guarantee is not unlimited makeups. The city guarantees five of six spring/fall classes and six of eight summer classes when severe weather cancels a lesson. If you cancel in writing within 48 hours of registration and before the program starts, you can get a full refund. After that 48-hour window but before the program begins, a 25% administrative fee applies; there are no refunds once lessons start. The city page still asks parents to stay outside the gated area unless they are registered for the Star Tots parent-child class. Confirm that rule for the next cohort.
Lesson tuition only covers the lesson. If you want to make a longer pool afternoon out of it, plan a recreational pool visit with separate daily admission. The municipal aquatic-facility listing is also useful for contact and location context, but not every lesson is at that address.
City private lessons use a four-class package
The city’s private lessons are four one-on-one classes of 20 minutes each. The listed price is $180 for residents or $210 for nonresidents per four-class package. Ages start at 6 months and go through adults, and the schedule is arranged between you and the instructor. Email or call before paying.
Aqua-Tots is the rolling monthly option
Aqua-Tots Oviedo is at 93 Alafaya Woods Blvd (407-377-7337) and serves swimmers from 4 months through 12 years old. Lessons are 30 minutes, and the group format has a maximum 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio. You can also pay for semi-private 2:1 lessons at $260/month or private 1:1 lessons at $350/month for one weekly lesson. The group plan I’d compare first is $130/month for one weekly lesson, plus a $50 annual registration fee per family, not per child. The local page markets the program as year-round and the brand describes its pool as indoor.
Use the Aqua-Tots Oviedo schedule page to see the current days, levels, and availability labels. Aqua-Tots’ corporate FAQ says absences should be reported through the app or by phone, makeups can be booked up to seven days ahead, and a missed makeup cannot be rescheduled. Makeups cannot be used toward monthly tuition. To withdraw or pause, the FAQ describes 30 days written notice, with billing and enrollment ending 30 days from receipt. Ask the Oviedo desk to confirm those terms at registration.
Oviedo YMCA needs one phone call before you budget
Oviedo YMCA offers group, private, and adaptive swim lessons for children, teens, and adults in its indoor pool at 7900 Red Bug Lake Rd. The branch page lists all of that but stops short of publishing the current Oviedo tuition. Ask for the current fee, number of classes in the package, age level, start date, and whether a member discount changes the amount. The YMCA’s program overview says you do not need to be a member to participate, and it lists network age bands of 6 months–12, 13–17, and 18+; those are network ranges, not proof that a particular Oviedo class has a seat this week. Call 407-359-3606 before building the cost into your plan. The Oviedo YMCA listing has the location context if you are already browsing local programs.
Before you call any of them
Have your learner’s age and current comfort level ready, plus the day or venue you can actually reach. Know whether you prefer a one-off package or a recurring monthly bill, and ask directly how absences and withdrawals work. If you are managing a second child, ask whether a parent needs to be in the water and what parking or pool entry looks like.
See other kids’ activities for more local options. We checked the provider pages on October 19, 2026.
